Working On Our Projects

This Friday the Totara students worked with their groups to finish off their design and technology projects. 

It was a day full of hammering, sawing, drilling and making it all fit. A fantastic sight to see, children in control of their own learning.

David Rileys brand new book
GOLDEN KIWIS

We were lucky to have David Riley come and talk about his latest book, based on all the gold medals that kiwi Olympic athletes have won. We have four copies of his book in the school library waiting to be issued to those who are interested in learning more about our country's success.

The Enviro Council

Even the younger ones can help out in the garden!

Recently the Enviro Council has been building eco-friendly model houses to display in the Clean, Green House Competition. We have been collecting different objects to use and our houses are really starting to come together. We hope it all goes well!

Summer is coming closer and closer, so to start out the new season the Enviro Council is beginning to plant a whole garden of new edible vegetables. We are planting bok choy, spinach, cauliflower, parsley and a beautiful array of flowers.

Seniors still love picture books

It was great to see the children engaged and discussing the messages in this funny book about a Panda who is unfortunately in possession of donuts. Unfortunate because he does not like them one little bit.

Well done Isaac and Max for picking this out for the class.

It's Book Week! We started another amazing week with a book fair.

Everyone had such fun dressing up as characters created by their favourite authors and marching around the court.

Iris in her amazing costume. She won 1st prize for Totara.

Everyone had fun goofing around with their friends.

Learning how to explain your thinking is an important skill. These three children were encouraged to try and explain to their peers how to solve a word problem.
